[A Brief Outline of the Japan Festival]As part of the commemorative events celebrating the 100th anniversary of the gift of the cherry blossom trees to the USA, the first Japan Festival Boston was hosted in 2012. Last year’s festival, which extended for two days, attracted over 7000 people.
For the objective of introducing authentic Japanese tradition and culture, the festival was planned with the following ideas:➀To ensure that the Japan Festival Boston continues for the next 100 years and beyond
② To bring together the community as one and celebrate “matsuri”
③ To show the appreciation and gratitude to Boston
The Kitanodai Gagaku Ensemble in collaboration with Sunbow 5 Foundation in Hadley, MA, has participated the festival since 2014. To celebrate the 60th anniversary of the friendship between Boston and Kyoto, Mr. Shogo Anzai, former chief court musician at the Music Department of the Imperial Household Agency will be joining with Mr. & Mrs. Iguchi, president and vice-president of the Ensemble, for this year’s performance at the festival.
